Holiday Food Baskets
Every year, during Passover and Rosh Hashanah, we distribute food baskets. We started with 15 baskets in 2019, and by Passover 2024, we distributed about 1,300 food baskets to families in need.
The food baskets, unlike the free supermarket, are distributed to families in pre-packed boxes. We pack the food baskets on a special packing day with the help of hundreds of volunteers. The packing usually takes place in educational institutions that allocate a large, covered space for us for the packing day.
The baskets distribution takes place at the free supermarket during the week of the holiday. Throughout the distribution day, our volunteers ensure that each family receives the basket they're entitled to, and don't leave the place before cleaning and organizing the supermarket.
In addition, we provide personal assistance to dozens more families before the holiday.
